The Top 5 Facial Oils I Would Like To Try

Have you ever read about an oil and just fell in love with it even though you have never tried it? Well, I have and I must say I am pretty obsessed with these oils and I really cannot wait to find out if they are as wonderful as they are claimed to be on paper.

The thing about me is that, with my dry/sensitive skin, I have grown weary of just trying new products on my body and mostly on my face because ever since I was a teenager I tried so many products that dermatologists and facialists recommended and none of them ever helped me, they just ended up burning my skin or flaring up my eczema.

Eventually, I just gave up and settled for Vaseline for a while, honestly that felt very childish for me so I kept searching and I discovered The Body Shop's Body Butter and Body Washes like I previously mentioned in my intro. They surprisingly treated my skin nicely the only problem was as a Student in South Africa, the prices were a little steep for me, so obviously I wasn't consistent with stocking up every time I ran out.

Years later I discovered a South African Brand, Portia M and their face products also treated me well, they have never burned my skin, which is a rare occurance for me with these big commercial brands, but Portia M really help me and I am really happy about being satisfied with a Local Brand.

Long story short I have been researching and trying to dive into this whole natural beauty skincare journey and I have read about all kinds of oils and their wonderful benefits and I am just so excited to start trying out different ones seeing how they will treat me but I want to talk about these ones that have stood out for me and why I think they will be great for the skincare routine I am trying to build, so let us dive into my top 5 facial oils I would like to try.

  1. ROSEHIP OIL

Listen when you read about Rosehip Oil, you can tell she is the girl she thinks she is okay, Rosehip is said to be high in Linoleic acid and a-linolenic acid, which is commonly recommended for oily acne prone due to it being a drying oil because of its fast absorbency and it is also said to be rich in Vitamin A and recommended for mature skin because of its anti-aging benefits, which I love because I am already trying to work on my skin staying as youthful as possible in my mature years.

Now do I think it will work for me, probably not because it is high in Linoleic acid is mostly recommended for people with oily skin and I have dry skin which means I should look at oils that are high in Oleic acid, and it is risky for me to buy it because it is a very expensive oil so I would want to get my money's worth. So if Rosehip Oil is as good as they claim on paper I would not mind reaping its wonderful anti-aging benefits.

2. Tamanu Oil

I do not hear a lot of people talking or writing about this oil much, but I discovered it a couple of years back on Yaya Creations' Youtube Channel and I was intrigued by it, at first I did not know it even came in an oil form because I was introduced to it as butter. I only did my research on it this year and I must say I like what I read. Tamanu is said to be rich in both Oleic and Linoleic acids but is mostly high stearic and palmitic acids.

What I think I will love about this oil is that it is said to be a natural tissue oil, so I think it would be effective for fading stretch marks, which is a priority of mine as I gained a lot of them during my pregnancy last year, I have used a commercial Marula Oil to help me with them and it did, but I think that if I make myself a DIY stretch mark oil with Marula and Tamanu oil I could possibly get better results in fading the stretch marks.

All in all, Tamanu Oil seems to have great benefits for the skin. Like I mentioned earlier I was first introduced to Tamanu in its Butter form so it was quite surprising to me that you can also get it in a liquid form, so this is a versatile ingredient on top of it being such a great ingredient for the skin.

3. Rice Bran Oil

The first time I came across a description of Rice Bran Oil, the source claimed that this oil in particular is an "antioxidant that is said to be more powerful than Vitamin E oil." I was immediately intrigued by that statement, as we all know Vitamin E is very good for the skin and it is such a powerful antioxidant that it is mostly used in anhydrous (does not contain water) products such as Body Butters to keep them from going rancid to quick.

No, it is not a perservative, but it does aid in keeping anhydrous products staying fresh for a bit longer. So you see why I was fascinated by this Rice Bran Oil just by that little statement but it does not end there. Rice Bran Oil is an oil extracted from the brown outer layer of rice, and I assume that we all know that Rice has such great skin and overall health benefits, that has been used for different ailments in many different Asian countries.

This oil is said to have many skin benefits such as improving circulation, evening out the skin tone, retains the skins moisture and it increases the skin's natural regeneration, so you tell me would you not be impressed by the this well seasoned oil if you were me, let me know in the comment section. I am glad I have this oil and I cannot wait to make a purchase and try it out for myself.

4. Raspberry Seed Oil

I discovered this one on the same website I discovered Tamanu and Rice Bran Oil, and as I am writing this, I am starting to question how good the writer for the website is because it is love at the first description and that is how I knew I wanted to try this oil. I was simply browsing through this particular supplier's website and I discovered Raspberry Seed Oil and I was blown away by its claims, it is said that it is a great moisturizing oil, that helps with improving the skin's elasticity and reducing wrinkles and like Tamanu Oil it is a natural tissue oil.

This oil is also said to help with skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. It is high in Oleic and Linoleic acids and as you guys have gathered by now I have a dry skin with some cases of eczema so how can I not already love this oil and it is also high in Vitamin A and E, which is great for someone like me, who is already trying to combat the evitable aging process and it could be a cheaper and safer option for Retinol due to its high contents of Vitamin A.

Upon this ingredient's great skin benefits, I was also even more impressed by its reviews and how many people who have tried it for the first time loved and praised, which means Red Raspberry oil is that girl, and that is why it is on my top 5 list of oils to try.

5. Pomegranate Seed Oil

Last but certainly not least, I started researching Pomegranate Seed Oil after seeing people on Instagram raving about Portia M's new Pomegranate skincare range and I wanted to see what the hype was about. Initially, its when I first saw those products I could tell that they smelt nice and when I researched the oil, that is the first thing they mention, its fruity and sweet scent which is a gateway to my heart because I am a sucker for fruity smells in skincare products and I just thought that it would be a nice oil to formulate with when you are looking for that natural sweet smell in your products.

What I liked about this oil, is its versatility, because it seemed to have the same amount of benefits for skin as for hair and also that you do not have to use much for of it to get incredible results. I definitely believed the wonderful claims of this oil because of its actual fruit which also has great benefits for your overall health.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I am very excited about buying these oils and trying them out on my skin and see if they are really worth the hype, so that I can come back to you guys and give you a full report on how each oil has treated my skin. If you guys have tried out some of these oils I listed let me know how it treated you and maybe rate it on a scale from 1-5 how you liked it or not. If you have not tried them like me, let me know which ones you would like to try and why.

Until next time

May your skin glow and love grow.
